If it’s prizes you’re after, this page is sure to whet your appetite. This year there’s over $15,000 in prizes up for grabs, everything from iPods to $2,000 cash for the Grand Prize winners.

Early Bird Prize

All entries received on or before 11:59 pm October 31, will be automatically entered into a draw for one of three, 8GB iPod Touch handheld devices courtesy of Best Buy. There will be one prize per category.

Draw will be conducted on or around November 5, 2010.

Grand Prize

There are six Grand Prize packages: one Grand Prize winner from each age group and category. The six Grand Prize winners will be selected by our panel of judges.

The Gulf Islands Film School (GIFTS) program includes:

People's Choice Prize, courtesy of Best Buy®

There are three People’s Choice prize packages complete with an 8GB iPod Touch, a Sony iPod/iPhone Docking Station, and a $100 Best Buy Green Gift Card (made out of 43% recycled material). One People’s Choice prize will be awarded to the entry in each category that receives the most popular vote points. One video prize, one song prize, and one essay prize.

How does the voting work?

It’s pretty simple actually – every unique vote you receive is worth three points and repeat votes are only worth one. In other words, if your Mom votes for your entry five times you’ll only get seven points (three for her first vote and then one for each subsequent vote). BUT, if five different people vote for your entry you’ll getting a whopping 15 points. The contestants with the most votes at the end of the contest move on the finals and one step closer to winning the $2000 and a week at the Gulf Islands Film and Television School.

Power Smart Pledge Prize

Make a promise to be smart with your power and you will be automatically entered into a draw for one of three, $300 Mountain Equipment Co-op® gift cards and a BC Hydro Power Smart Energy Savings Kit. Everyone who has completed the pledge by 11:59 pm on December 12, 2010 will be entered into a random draw. You do not need to be a contestant to win this prize.
