There will be two prizes awarded for Video submissions, two prizes awarded for essay submissions, four People’s Choice Awards, 3 pairs of 2010 Winter Game tickets awarded at random to people who vote for the People’s Choice, and a Bonus Prize!
EARLY ENTRY PRIZE
All video and essay entries submitted before October 26th will be entered into a draw to win $200 cash.
Requirements: Entrants must select “GIFTS” when asked “How did you first become aware of the “Invent The Future” contest?
Draw will take place on October 26th.
VIDEO SUBMISSIONS
1 Grand Prize Winner (13 – 17 age group): $2,500.00 in cash.
1 Grand Prize Winner (18 – 24 age group): $2,500.00 in cash.
BONUS PRIZE FOR VIDEO ENTRY WINNERS
The winners of the video grand prize will also be given the opportunity to participate in a week long Gulf Islands Film School (GIFTS) program! How sweet is that?
The prize includes:
- a week long course or session selection from the 2010 curriculum
- Room and board (yep a place to sleep and all your food!)
- Tuition (Including all training and equipment use)

All video entries are automatically entered into the “Outstanding Achievement in Promoting Energy Sustainability” category in the 2010 Eyelens Film, Video & Animation festival.
ESSAY SUBMISSIONS
1 Grand Prize Winner (13 – 17 age group): $2,500.00 in cash.
1 Grand Prize Winner (18 – 24 age group): $2,500.00 in cash.
Grand Prize winners (for essay submissions only) in each of the two age categories will also receive enrolment in the 2010 Gulf Islands Film and Television School (“GIFTS”) Weeklong Documentary Program (see www.giftsfilms.com for details). Each winner will be able to select the session of their choice (subject to availability) and in the event of a team winner, both members of such team will be entitled to be enrolled. GIFTS programs all take place at GIFTS’ live-in media training facility located on Galiano Island, BC. Approximate retail value of GIFTS weeklong program is $980.00. Winners will be responsible for arranging their own transportation to and from the Swartz Bay or Tsawwassen BC Ferry Terminals. Prize includes both Tuition and Room & Board. Information on the Documentary weeklong program offered by GIFTS’ is available online at www.GIFTSfilms.com. Grand Prize winners who (or whose parent/guardian, in the event of a minor winner) decline to accept the GIFTS portion of the Grand prize will forfeit such prize, which will not be awarded, and no substitute compensation will be awarded or made.

3 PRIZES FOR PEOPLE'S CHOICE VOTERS
3 pairs of 2010 Winter Games tickets awarded at random to people who vote for their favourite entry.
Voting for the People’s Choice Prize runs from October 31 through November 15, 2009.
