Duane Elverum
Duane Elverum is an award-winning instructor and avid sailor who has crossed the pacific five times. He received a degree with honors in architecture from the University of British Columbia for his thesis on Alternative Urban Housing, and for 11 years operated Delve Design Consultants for Built Environments in Vancouver. An enthusiastic educator, Duane sits on the BC Working Group for Sustainable Higher Education, and is currently assisting in the development of a Masters in Climate Change and Sustainability Leadership. This past year he launched Emily Carr's first required undergraduate course in sustainability for designers. Duane’s teaching philosophy orbits around a “systems approach” concept. Michael Urie
Michael Urie steals his scenes as Marc St. James, Wilhemina Slater’s ever-present sidekick, in ABC’s effervescent series “Ugly Betty.” Well before his role in “Ugly Betty,” Michael attended the Julliard School, where he received the prestigious John Houseman Prize for Excellence in Classical Theatre in 2002. Murray Bulger
Mr. Bulger knows a thing or two about digital media and youth-focused communications. In the late 1990s he managed a 30 member digital media team for the Youth Employment Initiative with ICBC. This role paved the way to his teaching position at Argyle Secondary school. There he played a lead role in developing the Digital Media Program – a program that earned him a Prime Ministers Award for Teaching Excellence in 2008. Today Mr. Bulger helps run the Digital Media Academy which gives kids training and exposure to professionals in the digital media industry. He also leads The Design 44 Team. This team produces 3 magazines (for youth by youth) a year and prints 5000 copies/issue. If your entry is focused on digital media and youth communications Mr. Bulger’s vote is almost assured. |

Simon Jackson
Simon maintains that one person, no matter their age, or where they live, can make a difference for all life. And, he should know because he has single-handedly built a powerful, politically-charged campaign to save the Spirit Bear – an extremely rare species of Black Bear from BC’s wild west coast.
