The basic concept here is based around a simple and effective advertising campaign: have well-dressed people in suits saving power and acting sustainably.

One such commercial might be someone in a suit riding their bicycle to work. Another might be someone turning the heat off in their apartment before going to work or composting while wearing a nice suit.

This approach to getting the word out about easy power saving strategies would be effective (a) because it draws attention by subverting the public stereotype on who is normally concerned about conserving electricity, and (b) because it is easy to understand and extremely visual.

These simple images of people in suits acting sustainably could be transferred to posters, billboards, pamphlets, sides of trucks; the list goes on. No new investment would be required on behalf of BC Hydro, just a shift in its advertising spending.

To summarize: the issue with BC Hydro's power saving suggestions for the public is not that they are inadequate, it's that public awareness is not high enough; images of people in suits saving power and living sustainably puts a much needed spin on such this important issue.
