Ever wondered how you could save energy? Even in your own home? Here’s how.

We need energy saving technology in our homes that will work effieciently and work well. Lights with motion sensors should be installed in rooms all around the house. These lights would turn on when they sense movement from a human being or animal and turn off when they no longer sense motion. There would be a manual override switch on the lights to keep them on or off when needed. Motion sensor lights would not only be used in homes but also in offices, stores, buildings, and schools. People would save all the energy they usually don’t save when they forget to turn off the lights. Another way to save energy in the home would be by putting transparent screens on windows during the winter. The screen would roll down from a rod, be custom fit for each window, and would seal against the window. The thick screen would prevent heat from leaving the house which would mean the thermostat wouldn’t need to be turned up because all warm air would be trapped inside.

More hybrid and battery-run cars should be used to save energy in transportation. People who buy a hybrid or battery-run car should receive a tax cut for buying a car that saves so much energy. Companies
manufacturing hybrid and battery-run cars should also receive a tax cut. This would encourage more companies to develop these cars and more people to buy them.

Our transit system should be improved greatly so more people will save energy by taking transit and driving less. Buses have to be more frequent and on time so more people will be inclined to take public transit.
There should be different bike stations around downtown and in other busy parts of the city. One would be able to pay for a bike for a few hours and then drop it off at any other bike station.

It is important to always be thinking about ways to save energy in our day-to-day lives. Everything makes a difference even if it just means taking shorter showers, and unplugging electronic devices when they aren’t being used. It is important for us as individuals, as part of a community, as part of our country, and as part of the world to do our share and save energy!
